DC Monument Update: The Society Board of Directors has approved the final design for modifications to the First Infantry Division DC Monument.  These modifications only impact the base.  We believe the numbers for Iraq and Afghanistan are close to 630 KIA.  The CG, First Infanry Division is reviewing the criteria and names we will add to the Monument.

The National Park Service must approve the project, but will not act until the House and Senate have passed a resolution authorizing the project.  The Society is working with the House and Senate to get the Resolution passed, but we have no date for completion.

Once we have the Resolution and the National Park Service approves, we will seek construction bids.  Based on similar projects, we estimate the project will cost about $400,000; we have raised $215,000.   The McCormick Foundation is matching $.50 for every dollar contributed.  You may make a contribution using the coupon in the February 2019 BHS.

While our goal was to dedicate the new design during our Baltimore Reunion, that appears unrealistic since we cannot take any actions without the Congressional Resolutions.
