Scholarship Recipients

We are pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s Huebner Scholarship awards. Each award is for a total of $10,000 – $2,500 each year over a four-year period. The winners are:

  • Katelyn Anderson of Evans, GA, daughter of Dale Anderson who served with HHC/4BDE/1stID from 1999-2000. Katelyn will be attending the University of Washington majoring in Pre-Med/Biology.
  • John R. Casey, son of John J. Casey who served with 1/16/1BDE/1stID from 2007-2009. John will be attending Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Economics with a minor in Public Policy and Finance.
  • Haylee Gahr of Rowlett, TX daughter of Christopher Gahr who served with B/701st from 1992-1993. Haylee will be attending Arizona State University majoring in Biology/Pre-Dental.
  • Ryan Pangracs of Leavenworth, KS son of Curt Pangracs who served with 1/16 from 1989-1991 and served with 1/4CAV from 1992-1995. Ryan will be attending Southwestern College-Winfield, KS majoring in Theatre Education.
  • Caroline Uehling of Glenside, PA granddaughter of Spencer Bennion who served with E/18 th from1942-1945. Caroline will be attending George Washington University majoring in Political Science/International Affairs.

We also awarded a Pelletier Scholarship, which was funded by a very generous bequest from the estate of Dale R. Pelletier who served with the 26th Infantry Regiment in Vietnam. This recipient was selected from the applicants for the Huebner Scholarship and is given to a student who demonstrates courage in overcoming obstacles and who shows substantial improvement over a period of time. The recipient is:

  • Jakob Miller-Ulrich of Clermont, FL grandson of Donald Ulrich who served with A/1AVN/BN from 1967-1968. Jakob will be attending Pfeiffer University majoring in Exercise Science.
